An artist living in Manhattan encounters a young woman who claims to have died and come back to inspire this artist, to write a book about her adventure.
She is elusive, disappears spontaneously, and is somewhat vague about her Afterdeath experience, yet specific enough to be authentic. The artist as first-person narrator is intrigued and maddened by the mystery but agrees to create an illustrated book about the occurrence. This is the book.
