Thank you for visiting my website, alexpricebooks.com. I will tell you a little about myself, and if you want to know more, please read my books.
I have lived in New York City, Manhattan, for over 40 years, and a lot has happened. I had a career as a commercial artist and photographer, a network administrator, a desktop publisher, and a pre-press specialist along with several other things, including bike messenger.
I made these books because I got to the point where I really needed to create something that encapsulated the big reason for me being here in the first place. The reason was to create art. Art (books as it turned out) that expresses my fascination with the world I live in.
Photography is a big part of my work as a painter, and also the capability of manipulating the images digitally. All of this I did daily in my work with design firms as a retoucher and now it has become integral in creating the images that I use as a reference to paint from.
I illustrated four children's books in 1986, (back when illustrators used actual pencils, pens, paint, and paper) called the Forgotten Forest branching book series. At that time I was determined to be a career illustrator, then realized I had to take a more lucrative direction. I always felt that I had left a part of myself behind. Now I am reclaiming that part, using both modern digital along with traditional techniques, and will hopefully continue to do so.
If you would like to send me an email, please do. -Thanks
By the way, if you would be interested in looking at some of my artwork that is not in The City Scene from the Sidewalk, new and old work, kind of an ongoing portfolio, along with the art I created for the Forgotten Forest branching book series, please visit: alexpriceart.com
